Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what PageCat collects, what it does not, and how data flows. The short version: PageCat has no servers of its own — it collects, stores, and sells no user data.

1. What we collect

Nothing. PageCat has no account system, no analytics, and no ad SDKs — there is no data collection operated by us.

2. How data flows

The following data exists only when you trigger the matching feature, and is sent directly from your browser to the service you configured. PageCat never relays or retains it:

• Translate on select: the text you highlight is sent to a translation endpoint (by default public services Google Translate / MyMemory; changeable in settings).
• Page summary / AI chat: the body text of the current page is sent to the AI endpoint you configure yourself (e.g. DeepSeek, Zhipu GLM, or any OpenAI-compatible service). Which provider receives it is entirely your choice.

These requests go straight from your browser to the provider and are governed by that provider's own privacy policy.

3. Local storage

The following is kept in local browser storage (chrome.storage.local) purely to run the features, and is never uploaded:

• Preferences (target language, trigger mode, pet size, etc.)
• The AI endpoint URL and API key you enter (stored locally only — avoid on shared computers)
• Interface state such as the pet's docked position

Uninstalling the extension removes all local data.

4. Browser permissions

Network access (http/https)	Reach the AI and translation endpoints you configure; AI URLs are user-defined, so they cannot be pre-restricted to specific domains

5. Third-party services

Translation and AI capabilities come from third-party providers (Google, MyMemory, DeepSeek, Zhipu, etc., depending on your configuration). Those providers may process request content under their own policies — please refer to them.

6. Data sales and advertising

PageCat sells no data, shows no ads, and performs no user tracking.

7. Children

PageCat is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and note it in the extension's release notes.
